When the Passengers Change

Some people feel we are navigating through a season of great change. It’s as if we are moving through a time of transition from one chapter in history to another and the passengers are switching out. We thought they would be with us, we wanted them at our side, but they have committed to a different path.

So now, we have a choice: do we gently sever the tethers to the soul, or do we leave the door open to them in case they change their mind?

We never imagined our paths would drift apart, so the shock of that in itself is painful. When did their belief system jump tracks? How did we not see this coming?

We may never have those answers, so reclaiming our sense of purpose is what will empower us to navigate this difficult chapter. We have no ill will. We speak our truth without anger or judgement. We do not condemn. There is a way we can navigate these differences without burning bridges.

When people make choices that do not align with our own moral compass, we must make a decision. We must make a resolve to love. Not so our strength will be diminished. We have come too far and have been through too much to pretend all is well. But when we determine to love in spite of behavior we do not agree with, we offer a gift that cannot be denied. We offer them grace as an invitation for revision.

If people feel they have chosen a side and their decisions are not panning out how they expected them to, it can be painful for them. Keeping them at arm’s length only solidifies their perception of us as the enemy. If we allow doors of communication to remain open, when they see what they need to see in order to desire change, they will release the grip on harmful behavior.

We are here to support others and build awareness for this transition. This shift is bringing about a profound reckoning that can only be answered with compassion and empathy. Not everyone will understand and that’s ok.

Choosing this path makes us different. We don’t care about the games of politicians. It was never about that, it was always about humanity. Now is the time to live and breathe fresh life into this planet, these people, this place in history. We are surrounded by people who need love, comfort and reassurance.

As soon as we realize that people are precious and valuable, our world will change. What happens tomorrow depends on what we do today.
